Sam I am here 👋
You might know me as Sam Gordashko or samiam_designs on the socials. I’m here to teach you Future Friendly Design tips and tricks from the perspective of a recovering design team of one.
Today, I work as a Freelance Design Systems Lead and Design Tokens Architect. I help teams solve their scaling problems and share what I learn along the way with the open-source design system community.
From life-or-death design to genetic testing for psychedelic-assisted therapy, my career as a "Design Team of One" in tech innovation has given me a unique perspective on ways of working in small teams to build BIG things. I'm best known for making people laugh as I share my pro tips, workflows, and epic fails as a public speaker, host of design systems events, and educational content creator focused on Design Systems and Design Tokens.
Outside of work, I'm really into street art, skyscapes, plants, and house music. I could talk about DJing and speaker technology for almost as long as I can talk about Design Tokens.

Why subscribe for free?
I hate emails. I spend more time unsubscribing to emails than reading emails.
Yet, people keeping asking for somewhere other than social media or a community slack channel to stay in touch.
Until the RSS feed is back to peak popularity, subscribing to my substack will allow me to send you an update every month or so about any new content I’ve created, workshops, conferences, and meetups I’ll be a part of.
It’s always going to be free, until you decide otherwise 🤑
I believe in giving back to the open-source community and underemployed people trying to grow as designers.
So, if you opt to pay for a subscription, thank you!
I use my extra income to invest in other designers and content creators to help me publish more valuable resources faster than I can by myself.
